Early in February of 2019, EnviroTech finished research on a new power source based on the reaction of a previously unstable isotope. The energy plants were cheap, quick to build, environmentally safe, and highly efficient. By January 2020, more than a dozen major cities had constructed these power plants. Energy supply skyrocketed and electricity prices plummeted. In June 2020, however, a heatwave swept across the United States, causing over half of the powerplants to unexpectedly overheat and explode. The casualties were enough to shut down the remaining plants until further investigations could be concluded.
In July, reports of an illness began appearing, with symptoms similar to radiation poisoning, mainly in a small radius around the areas where the plants were built. No treatments seemed to affect the individuals, and soon the additional casualties, attributed to the plants, began to rise. Small numbers of similarly affected individuals were found scattered among the rest of the world, since many people had been traveling during the holidays. Even in the rest of the world, no treatment could be found.
During August 2020, the first report of the dead coming to life came from a funeral home, when the corpse rose from its casket and attacked the minister, killing him and several others before the majority could flee. Continued reports across the United States began appearing, while simultaneously, those who had died in foreign countries rose and attacked locals. This is where our story begins, and it's only going to get worse.

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
Kim had just finished loading enough fuel to last her another 6 months worth of fuel-only travel (which isn't taking into account the solar energy nor sail). Wiping her brow, she sat down on a couch in the comfortable, air-conditioned living room aboard her yacht. The next thing she needed to stock up on was food. Deep-sea fishing could go a long way, but sometimes the repetitive taste grew boring, even for her.
Hopping up, she proceeded to step outside and down to the pier, where she asked a local where the nearest grocery store was. With that information, she took a taxi into town.
Upon arrival, she pulled a list out of her back pocket and ran over it. There were a lot of items to pick up, and it would probably take a few trips to finish, but she was planning her longest cruise to date. She was excited at the thought of such a long trip around the world, but, shaking herself back to the present, she looked towards the store. "Time to get started"

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
It was roughly 5 hours later that Kim finished purchasing and transporting enough food to refill her stockpile of food in the yacht. Essentially, she was finished with all the chores needed to prepare for her year-long cruise. Assuming that nothing else came up that required her attention, she'd be leaving the next morning for her first destination, Cape Town, at the southern-most tip of Africa. Until then, she figured she might as well enjoy the night in Rockport.
Kim hailed a Taxi, then slipped inside.
"Know any good restaurants in the area?" she asked.
"The Saucy Seashell is an excellent place, if you're up for a good seafood buffet" came the reply.
"I get enough seafood on the sea, honestly. Any good Italian places?"
"Hmm... Well, there's a place just down the street actually, Papa Piolo's. They make a delicious lasagna, and their spaghetti makes you wonder why all the spaghetti you've ever eaten never tasted the same, haha."
"Sounds wonderful" she said, "I'll go there, thank you." And with that, the taxi took off.
Two hours later, evening was beginning to set in, and Kim was overloaded. The dinner buffet was incredible, though the cabbie DID warn her about how delicious the food would be. Surprisingly, the restaurant had few customers, despite it being one of the peak hours, but Kim didn't mind. The peace was something she'd always enjoyed whenever it was present.
Kim stood, and left a tip on the table, then proceeded to the cashier. Halfway there, a gunshot rang out, outside the building, and the few people in the restaurant stopped and looked around. Three more shots were fired, followed by a volley of automatic fire. People began growing nervous at the noise, but it wasn't until they heard the screaming that they began to panic.
Most began to move towards the doors to get out of the building, when a window shattered. A middle-aged man jumped through the window, carrying a pistol. Most of the people inside feared it was an insane killer on the loose, but Kim noticed the expression on his face, an expression of pure fear. He turned to face the window and backed away, firing shots through the window. That's when the nightmare began.
A horribly disfigured body shot through the window and landed on the man, followed by another figure. He screamed for help as the two began clawing away at him, biting into his arms and neck. Everyone in the building lost their minds and began screaming, and the two figures realized that there were others in the building. They stood and looked at the nearest lady who was nearly out of breath screaming. The first figure had a missing eye, and a chunk of his arm was hanging off. The second had several bullet wounds throughout his body and was missing 3 fingers on one of his hands. Both had extremely pale skin.
The first dove onto the lady while the second went for her husband, and from there, mass hysteria drove people to escape the building as quickly as possible. Kim was no exception, and she quickly dashed out the front of the building, searching for cover to hide from the walking corpses that were still feasting inside the restaurant. Part of her wished to vomit, but her military training stuck with her as she elbowed the driver's side window of the nearest car, unlocked it, and got inside. A quick moment later and she'd pulled out the ignition wires and hotwired the car.
The two cadavers inside the building heard the noise and rose to look outside, followed by the bodies of the middle-aged man, who was now missing part of his neck, and the screaming woman, whose arm had been mangled. Kim shoved the gears into reverse to back away from the car parked in front of her as the four zombies jumped out of the restaurant and began making a mad dash towards her car. Shifting into Drive, she floored the gas pedal, peeling rubber on cement as the car jumped forward. She hit one zombie head-on, launching it over the car, and clipped another. She had to get back to the docks as quickly as possible.

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
John was in rockport on a business meeting. He was invited there by the CEO of RIT (Rockport International Tradegroup).
The meeting had just ended and it was just past dinner hour so John thought to himself.
"Well, Since this deal is going to go through i may as well get a drink and maybe some dinner before flying back home"
As he gathered up his notes and files putting them neatly into his briefcase which seemed to be very large for only being able to hold his laptap and a few folders of files and stationary equipment.
"I look forward to seeing you next week." john said to Mr. Jukes as he shook his hand.
"It was a pleassure John. Things concluded quite well and I look forward to having you as are new security advisor."
John nodded and started towards the door wishing Mr.Jukes a good night.
Just as he reached the door he turned around, " Say you wouldn't happen to know anywhere i could grab a bite to eat before i fly back would ya?"
"Sure, there's a little Italian restaurant just across the street. Papa Piolo's, They has the most amazing spaghetti sauce you'd ever eaten." replied Mr.Jukes
"Sounds great, I'll give it a try." John said then turned and headed towards the elevators.
Once in the elevator he decided not to head to the roof to put his briefcase in the helicopter as it would take more time and he wanted to fly before it got dark. Riding down the elevator some crappy music came on and he thought to himself... "WTF is this shit, 39 floors to go.... man this sucks"
As the elevator doors opened he was glad not to have to listen to that music anymore. He made it about halfway through the lobby when across the street he saw what looked to be a gang shooting. Then he realized when the shots didn't drop the first victim that something wasn't right. What seemed to be a gang member pulled out what seemed to be a mac10 and started shooting his sub machine gun at.... what looked like walking corpses. Then one of them jumped through the window of the italian restaurant. John stared is disbelief until he saw a younger female run from the restaurant and jump into a car. She the proceeded to run these creatures over. One flew over the car as she hit it head on, another got clipped and was being dragged under the car.
"**** this!" He said aloud then turned back towards the elevator. The front desk security guards ran out the lobby doors with guns drawn. John thought to himself those dumba**'s are gonna get themselves killed. As he entered the elevator he could see the two guards yelling at the oncoming car that had just ran over two zombie looking creatures to stop. Guns pointing screaming louder and louder. Then as the doors closed he saw muzzle flashes from thier guns and then there it was. That crappy music again....

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
Kim swerved to the side to avoid the guards that had emerged from the building. She barely missed them, which was out of pure luck considering she had to duck just avoid being shot by them. Maybe they were shooting at the creatures behind her, but she couldn't be sure.
The swerve dislodged the zombie under the car practically next to the guards, and as she sped off, she could see them in her rear-view mirror leaning down to check the creature for a pulse. She was sure they thought it was a living person, but there was nothing she could do for them now. She had to get to the yacht as soon as possible.
It didn't take very long, considering the docks were less than five minutes away. It didn't seem as though anything had changed since she'd left, but considering her experience a short bit ago, she wasn't willing to risk expecting things to be the same. Still, she parked the vehicle across the docks amidst some crates, hoping that it would be enough of a blockade in case any more of the creatures caught up with her.
She made a mad dash to the yacht, keeping her eyes open for any activity, but thankfully there was none. Hurrying onto the boat, she quickly unlocked the door and scrambled inside, locking it behind her. First thing she needed to do was grab a gun from the armory, so she made her way down to the bottom deck where the armory was located.
Her first pick was a powerful .50 Cal, 8 round IF-Falcon, the successor to the Desert Eagle, with a slightly larger magazine, and a redesigned frame for over 50% less recoil. The second was one of the three HK 989's, an automatic pistol with a 30-round magazine that used 9mm rounds. She was pretty sure a semi-auto pistol wouldn't completely take down one of those creatures, seeing as how the gunman earlier didn't survive.
Two extra magazines for each gun, and she returned topside to cast off from the dock. Hopefully she wouldn't run into any trouble, but being prepared was always the best strategy.

(Armory Information)
- Spoiler:
- Being Post-Modern, there are a few new weapons out on the market. Some made by our beloved current weapon-producers, others created from new companies. Below is general information concerning the weapons in Kim's armory. Please note, there are no major specifics for every gun (such as munition caliber) and these are all fictional.
Kim's armory contains:
3 HK 989
4 HK UMP-15
3 IF Falcon
5 M5V12
2 MLB Fresco
4 PIR CR-12
2 PIR CR-25
7 PIR LG-17
2 PIR X-21
1000 rounds ammo per gun, respective of each weapons caliber.
HK 989
The HK 989 is a lightweight, medium-recoil automatic pistol that uses 9mm munition in a 30-round magazine. Cheaply made, the 989 strikes a very delicate balance between efficiency and quality, resulting in an excellent close-combat machine pistol.
HK UMP-15
The HK UMP-15 is a lightweight SMG with low recoil, 50-round magazine, and easy-to-carry design. It is the latest in HK's UMP series.
IF Falcon
The IF Falcon is the successor to the IVI Desert Eagle, sporting a frame that reduces the recoil of the .50 caliber bullets used in the 8-round magazine.
M5V12
The M5V12 is the 12th version of the M5 series, an assault rifle series built for standardized mass-production in the U.S. Military. The M5V12 allows switching between Semi and Full Auto. The carrying grip on the top of the rifle has a built in 1.5x magnification scope. The 20-round magazine uses 12mm rifle rounds.
MLB Fresco
The Fresco is a standard home-protection weapon built by Massachusetts Lab Ballistics. The 9mm rounds are about half the length of their typically used brethren, to minimize killing capability, effectively reducing the weapon to a firearm capable of injuring an attacker enough to where authorities can safely arrest the individual. The magazine is actually two magazines in one, storing 20 rounds in both the front and rear of the magazine. The pistol comes with a standard laser-sight to aid the elderly in properly aiming the weapon at thieves. Also included is a silencer to prevent armed thieves from identifying the location of the home-owner.
PIR CR-12
The PIR CR-12 shows off a flashy, unique design, that (despite the looks) maximizes on propulsion and minimizes on recoil by loading the 12mm rifle rounds as far back on the rifle as possible, providing more power behind the bullet, increased accuracy, and lower recoil. Additional equipment includes a standard silencer and laser-sight. Magazine carries 20 rounds.
PIR CR-25
The PIR CR-25 is the heavier, louder brother to the CR-12. Using 12mm rifle rounds, the CR-25 uses a shorter, more compact design, combined with a larger magazine, to bring around enough sound and firepower to demoralize and defeat the enemy. The built-in stock helps reduce the increased recoil. The magazine carries 35 rounds.
PIR LG-19
Nicknamed the "Mini Bee" for its abnormally quiet, yet high rate of fire, the PIR LG-19 uses a built-in stock and a sturdy pistol grip to reduce the recoil on the light automatic to an extreme minimum, making the weapon highly accurate, quiet, and deadly. The magazine flaunts 35 9mm pistol munition.
PIR X-21
The X-21 is a high-recoil, extreme-distance rifle that uses electromagnetic railgun technology along the barrel. The 15mm rifle ammo is propelled with enough force to grant the rifle an average 3-mile range. Simply stated, this rifle will cause an organic target to explode on impact. The battery used for powering the electromagnetic rails around the barrel is mounted in the stock of the rifle. The extended scope provides a 10x electronic zoom. The magazine carries 15 rounds.

"Ding"
The elevator stopped at the roof. Tosing the briefcase into the Agusta 109 Elite Power helicopter. Firing up the helicopter making sure everything the way it was when he left. Making sure the briefcase was within grasping distance. Slowly his Agusta 109 Elite Power lifted off the helipad on the roof. Down below he could see panic in the streets. It looked like the riot of 2005. People running in the streets, fires being started, pillaging and looting in the streets. What was happening down there was just a crazy mess he thought to himself.
Passing over the docks it looked so peaceful. Only a few people there. Looking a little closer he noticed the vehicle from the restaurant. She made it to the docks he thought to himself. Laughing out loud he giggled to himself something about her being one lucky sob. Must follow the coastline home and see whats going on. Hopefully this crazyness hasn't spreaded there yet. Then it came to him, John slammed his fist on the side of the door. "Bah, I forgot again!". Remembering he was out of dogfood and was suppose to pick up some while he was out.

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
The scenario was similar to that which she'd only read in books. Zombie outbreaks, which spread until they overcame all of humanity. She'd always thought such a thing was impossible, but considering the living deceased she'd seen earlier, there was no way that it wasn't true. Most people in stories found themselves barricaded in buildings, scavenging infested cities for any remnants of food. She was especially glad now that she had her yacht.
Glancing upwards, she noticed the heli passing overhead. She wondered if the pilot knew what was going on down below. A heli would have been useful on her yacht if she had wanted to go further inland, but she'd always settled for ship-to-shore excursions by raft. In theory though, she could probably make room on her top deck for a 'very' small heli, if she were to make room on the middle deck for the raft. If things truly were turning out as they had in books, then entire military complex's would be empty and perhaps she could snag a heli from one of them. Right now, though, her main concern was to untie the ropes holding her ship to the docks.
With deft hands and an eye glued to the entrance of the docks, she quickly untied the ropes and tossed them back on the pier. Out of the corner of her eye, just as she stood, a black shadow sprung from behind the car at the entrance to the pier. It made a mad dash down the pier as she lifted the 989 to meet it. Her aim was quite accurate, but all the shots seemed to do was slow the creature down. Dropping the 989 she brought the Falcon up and with careful aim, went for the key vital spots. Her first shot hit the stomach area, which tore a hole through the figure. The second shot hit the chest where the heart was, which did nothing to hinder it's movements. The third shot took a little more time to fix, but it tore the top-left of the head off the body. It dropped on the spot.
"Figures" she whispered, to no one in particular. "Just like the freaking books." And with that she hurried inside and started up the engines. For the time being, she decided to head South along the coastline. If there were any other survivors out there, perhaps she could find a few along the coast. Further north was colder, and dead carcasses had less likely a chance of moving faster due to the effect of the cold on a person.
Setting her course in the computer, Kim sighed. She had been lucky to stock up on the amount of goods that she had. Her mind wavered towards all the people who would likely not survive, if the outbreak were to grow larger. Billions would perish... and the more that did, the more of the living dead there would be, which was a horrible thought for anyone who managed to survive...
Kim stood, walking outside on the top deck and picking up the 989 she'd dropped earlier. She returned inside and locked the door behind her. Inside the boat, she was most certainly safe. Every window was fitted with bulletproof glass, which served both a resistant to pirate attacks and harsh weather. No zombie would be able to break through them, if any ever managed to get on the ship.
Stepping down the stairs to the middle deck, she decided on laying down. She'd had a hard night, and putting the 989 away could wait until later. The ship's computer could handle the navigation and collision avoidance if ever the situation arose. Sleep felt like a very enticing gift right now. Maybe this was all just a dream... *snore*

The ship's computer could handle the navigation and collision avoidance if ever the situation arose. Sleep felt like a very enticing gift right now. Maybe this was all just a dream... *snore*
Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
Flying along the coastline John couldn't help but notice how peaceful it was. A little to peaceful. There seemed to be no movement from anything. Sensing something wrong He guided the helicopter closer to the shore. There he noticed it wasn't as peaceful as he first thought. Each town he passed all showed signs of rioting. No fires in the little towns along this coastline yet although.
What seemed like days had just been a few hours. Finally home he was. Upon landing into the complex which was located on the coastline itself he started to gather his belongings from the helicopter when he could hear what seemed to be a large pony running towards him. Paying no attention to it he already knew what it was. Turning around from the helicopter there she was. Sitting there calm and polite, waiting for the sign or command. "Alright" john said. Then she lunched forward knocking him back against the helicopter showing nothing but excitement and happiness. "okay, okay, relax. I'm home, but i forgot your food again. Don't worry girl there's plenty of meat in the freezer."
Walking up to the house he couldn't help but think of all those people. Where had they gone from the coastline. There was nothing but blood in the streets. In the house he pulled out four steaks from the freezer and 2 racks of beef ribs. Outside he started up the BBQ and got everything ready for dinner. Some baked potatoes ready to be wrapped in foil and covered in butter he prepared and threw in first. Cupcake was out running around the yard playing with her chew toy watching john travel in and out preparing dinner.
While waiting for the BBQ John decided to have a glass of Jack and go online to see what he could find out. Down to the basement of the complex he traveled. The complex seemed more like a military installation then a home to outsiders. In the basement through the wine cellar at the end of the hall was what seemed to be a video lense on the wall. John put his eye up to the lense, "Retna scan accepted" a voice rang out from nowhere. Then the Wall seemed to slide up revealing a room.
Entering the room seemed like stepping into another dimension. Computer mainframes and walls posted with what looked like military plans and maps of all locations. Satellite images of china south America and Europe littered the walls as well. "Computer on" john said. "Voice activation accepted" the same voice annouced. John then started looking online. Searching for any bit of information he could come up with regarding what he seen. Reading tonnes of articles everything was pointing towards a virus of some sort. Some mutation or biological weapon perhaps he thought. Nothing in the government databases mentioned anything, this had to be 3rd party. "Computer activate main perimeter defenses" John said. "Security initialized" responded the computer voice again. Turning around in the chair john headed back up to the kitchen.
Putting the steaks and ribs on the BBQ John noticed his glass was empty. John headed inside to fill up his glass inside. Glancing over into the study he noticed the shotgun hanging above the fireplace. Figuring it was a good way to take his mind of things he grabbed the pump action and a box of shells. Outside he setup to do some skeet shooting while dinner cooked. After a few good round of shooting skeet's He sat down and enjoyed dinner. Cupcake had her two steaks and fell asleep inside on the couch. After cleaning up he turned on the TV and sat in the lazy boy, putting his feet up and flicking on the TV....... 10 seconds later not even noticing what was on he was out like a light.

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
Morning rolled around to find Kim still resting on the couch in the living room of her yacht. It had been several hours now and she'd already made a lot of progress. The computers navigation system had taken her along a course straight south along the shoreline, roughly 1000-1500 feet from the shoreline, provided that the sensors didn't pick up on any obstacles in the path.
Leaning forward on the couch, she took a moment to stretch. Outside the windows, she caught sight of smoke on the shoreline. A city on the coast seemed caught up in the chaos that had apparently occurred the previous night. The outbreaks were happening everywhere it seemed...
Shaking her head in disbelief, her stomach gave indication to hunger, so she moved to the galley to fix something. Half an hour later, a hearty meal involving eggs, hash browns, and corned beef hash was prepared and she took the plate to a table in the dining room adjacent to the galley. Before sitting, she grabbed a radio from the living room and propped it up on the table next to her meal in the dining room, then flipped through stations until she found a station broadcasting on the events.
"So..." she paused, thinking. "Its a matter of national security now..." Kim sighed. She wondered if this was happening in other parts of the world as well. If it were only in North America, there was a chance it might not spread to the rest of the world. On the other hand, if airlines were still in operation, it would surely spread through airline travel...
She pushed aside the dish and stood, turning off the radio. It wouldn't be long until noon, and she was already nearing Georgia waters. She picked up the plate and rinsed it off in the sink a bit, then placed it in the dishwasher. Afterward, she took the 989 back to the armory, but kept the Falcon with her, then proceeded to the bridge.
Kim flipped on the bridge radio to monitor transmissions, in case any from shore made attempts to radio her. She couldn't take on too many passengers, but she'd take on as many as she could. With that, she made adjustments to the coarse to navigate a little closer to the shoreline, and set to work scanning the shore for any survivors.

"...on't know quite the extent of the outbreaks yet, although it seems that more are occurring further South, due to the less hostile climate effects on the bodies. What we do know, however, is that the outbreak is not airborne. All those who have not yet come in contact with a moving corpse are advised to barricade themselves in their home or any secure location until military or local enforcement can grant the area clearance to move freely. Homeland Security is already beginning a sweep of the nation, starting with Washington DC as the initialization point. Until then, all residents are advised to stay indoors and barricaded until enforcement can clear the area."
"That was Vice-President McAllistar's speech not more than half an hour ago. Currently we at EGNB have already followed the advice to barricade the building, and we will continue broadcasting the Vice-President's speech until the crisis is over."

Slurp, slurp, slurp, slurp. Cupcakes tongue lashed out across John's face. "I'm up, I'm up, give me a minute" bellowed John. Letting the dog outside John looked up to notice the sun was already over head. It must be past noon already he thought to himself. First time in a few years i slept like that he mumbled. In the kitchen he prepared in this case what would be lunch. John was a meat eater and enjoyed all types of meats. So for lunch he decided on some skewers with jambalaya and bread. The dog loved it so much when he forgot to get her dog food. They both sat outside on the deck enjoying the afternoon sun while eating. After lunch and cleaning up it was time to do some work.
Down in the basement computer room he managed to put together bits and pieces of what was going on from the broadcasts. It seemed that some viral bacteria was being tested on animals since the first cases came from some dogs. There was reports of "Undead dogs" attacking people in North Carolina. That was the original case reported and spread from there to humans. The reports were very vague how or an exact location however they did state that it was not airborne and pass through contact. Being bitten or lacerated seemed to be the easiest way to transfer the virus.
"Incoming Security Call" annouced the computer. "On screen"John replied. The 70 inch plasma on the wall lit up and a man sitting behind a desk was on the screen. He looked to be talking to some people in suits and a few in military dress before he realized the monitor had been activated"
"course of attack. General I need to know what the protocol's are if that happens! We must contain this at all..." looking up he saw John on the screen.
"WHERE THE **** HAVE YOU BEEN!" yelled the man in the suit.
"uhhhh sleeping, I had a rough night" john said lazily
"We have a situation here. Where is your team?"
"They are on leave sir, You said we had 3 months before the next assignment" John replied
"Well call them back, This is national security on the line here. I'm about to declare martial law and your team has priority on eliminating this threat. I Have no idea what's happened but we've lost contact with the labs in North Carolina. We sent an inspection team about a week ago on reports of illegal genetic testing and then a few days ago all hell broke loose and no contacts from the team i sent" the man in the suit seemed like he was hiding something in the way he spoke.
"Alright. I'll recover the team asap Mr.President. What's my clearance level for this mission?" stated john
"Classified and priority A1, Your the lead team here John. Whatever you need you got it. Oh and John if you could..." BANG BANG BANG, shots rang out and the screen went dead.
"Ah Hell" John mumbled
This is going to be one of those missions he thought to himself. "Computer call the team, Priority red."
Later the afternoon it was starting to get dark. No word from any of the team members and it had already been almost 5 hours. This was very unusual. The team had always responded within 20 minutes of getting a call and this time it was a code red. Something was wrong very wrong. He had a bad feeling about this.
After dinner there was still no word. Looks like i'm a team of one he thought to himself. His heart even though it was cold and strong sank a little at that moment. These were not only his team but his friends and family. Worked with many of them for years. Seen alot of action together and now it was just him. Things weren't looking so good. No team, Coms seemed to be down, A viral infection being spread making everybody dead or crazy. What could go wrong next he sat thinking outside as nightfall came. What the hell else......

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
It had grown dark as evening set in. Throughout the day she'd seen none along the shoreline, aside from the living dead. Many had seen her boat moving and attempted to cross out into the waters, but the salt in the ocean seemed to cause enough pain among them to prevent them from pushing their luck. Who'd have thought that the dead could still feel pain... Poor souls were probably unable to rest in peace thanks to this outbreak.
The Southernmost tip of Florida was no more than 6 hours away, but Kim cut back on the throttle to extend the time. She planned on letting the navigational computer handle the course, but she wanted to navigate around the tip of Florida herself. With the course set, she estimated arriving around 10am, give or take half an hour. Plenty of time for rest.
Stepping back into the Captains Quarters, Kim shuffled through her closet to pick out her clothes for the next day, tossed them on the dresser, and went to take a shower. The long, hot shower certainly had a positive effect on her, considering all that had happened, and within minutes of finishing, she was already in bed. Morning would come soon, and with it the alarm that would wake her up and alert her to resume her navigational duties around the tip of Florida.

Dusk had come and gone. Night was here and John still sat there just thinking. Thinking about his team, Thinking about everything they've been through. Just thinking about everything that had happened in the last 3 days. This was not something he had foreseen at all. What will become of this whole thing he continued to ponder. Then he shook his head. Tomorrow I'll go and search for some survivors, sitting here waiting is just silly he said to himself.
Checking his PDA all systems were in order. John got up and then headed inside. Since it was still early yet he decided to head downstairs to the work shop. The security for the workshop was way more sofisticated then then Control room. Retna scanner, Palm scanner and even a DNA sampler. Nothing was getting in the workshop without clearence that was for sure. The hall to the workshop was lined was so many surprises, lasers, blades, mini guns mounted along the cieling were just a few to be mentioned. John passed down the 65 foot hallway with out even a worry although.
In the workshop the space seemed to be so unreal. It was like a factory floor. Milling machines, grinders, saws, overhead crane system. What ever you could dream of was in here. The west wall was lined with what looked like different types of rifles and hand guns. To the north was a shooting range and on the east wall was some pretty mean looking big weapons. John spent many hours down here. This was his sanctuary. Cost a small fortune to make but who would ever think to look here in florida. Nobody even puts in a basement because of the water table being so high but yet here we were a good 60-70 feet underground. To anybody else this wuld be so crazy but to john it was just home.
John approached the main work bench. On it lay what seemed to be an oversized Pfeifer-Zeliska .600 Nitro Express Magnum which in essence is just pure insanity since it could take down an elephant as it is. This gun seemed much more different although. There was no place to put an average bullet. John had deleoped this himself with the help from a few team members. This was every countries dream weapon. A gun that fire pure energy. Holding enough charge for 2000 rounds, being handheld and yet surprisingly light wieghing only 3.5pounds. The cartridges were made from a uranium and another substance know as gr-4. In a pencil shaped tube both substabces were side by side. Unmixed like an epoxy each harmless, but mixed the chain reaction causes a reaction which in turn fires out a bolt of pure energy. Just a pin drop from each causes such a reaction. John just need to add a few finishing touches on his masterpiece. Etching in the name on the side "Matchstick". Finishing the matchstick took a few hours. He then placed it on the wall where it already had a spot.
John headed to bed since tomorrow was going to be a long day. Tomorrow a new day he thought. The day we find survivors.

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
At 9:37am, the alarm went off, waking Kim and letting her know that she was approaching the point where she'd wished to resume navigational command. Quietly, she slipped on her clothes and made the bed, holstered the Falcon, then after a quick glance around, made her way to the galley for a quick breakfast.
Half an hour (and a triple stack of waffles) later on the bridge, Kim flipped the radio on again. Today she decided to try actively radioing in to see if there were any survivors. If there were any listening to radios, perhaps she could reach someone. She calibrated the computer to broadcast on all frequencies, then created a recording that she began transmitting:
"This is Kim Orrel of the S.S. Isabella broadcasting on all frequencies to any survivors along the coastline. If there are any survivors, please respond."
She waited for roughly a minute, but there was no response. The recording would repeat twice in the span of two minutes, every 5 minutes. Kim flipped the radio over to intercom. Any input from any of the intercoms on the ship would act as a radio transmitter and stop the recording. This would allow her to respond, from any intercom in the ship, to any return messages sent from the shoreline without the recording getting in the way of her response. All she had to do now was navigate, scan the shoreline for any survivors, and wait.

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
Morning came. 6am seemed to be a warm welcome today. John was setting out for a long day of hunting down survivers and seeing what was left in the outside world. It was a nice day, warm sunny no wind. One of those days that the tourists loved. After cooking breakfeast for himself and cupcake it was time for the normal ritual. A small 3 mile jog around the perimiter. The jog was refreshing and vitalizing.
8:36am john was in the shower. 50 mins later dressed and ready to go. John was loading up the truck with his gear. Getting his weapons ready the computer announced " Incoming vessel, 68 miles out". John paused for a minute. A vessel he thought to himself. From the workshop to the Server room.
At the workstation john saw what seemed to be a sailing vessel. He sat there just staring at what seemed almost an eternity just thinking to himself. It was only about 5 minutes and then over the load speaker
"This is Kim Orrel of the S.S. Isabella broadcasting on all frequencies to any survivors along the coastline. If there are any survivors, please respond."
Where was this vessel headed and why, what was her intentions. How should i approach this was his thoughts. He waited a few minutes and the message repeated itself.
"S.S. Isabella this is Col. John.M.Smith, please identify your condition and crew members. You are about 65 miles away do you need assistance? over"

Kim wheeled around to the radio as the transmission caught her off guard. She hadn't expected a response this early. If she had woken up an hour later, she might have even missed whoever was still alive on the coast. Picking up the radio transmitter, she sent her reply:
"Good to hear another voice Colonel. As for your questions, I am in good health, but I have no crew. The majority of my ship is run by a computerized system. I've been checking the shoreline for survivors since I left Massachusetts. I'm assuming from your military status that you've heard about the outbreaks at this point. My vessel is self-sustaining, and I have enough food to last a year.. more with fishing. As such, I'm in no major need of assistance, simply scanning the coast for survivors who may need an escape from the outbreaks. May I ask if you yourself need assistance?"
Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
John was glad to hear that response
"Glad to hear your in good condition. As for myself I'm okay. I have a small compound a few hours away your more then welcome to join. Only two of us here. Would welcome you to a late lunch if interested. Going to be throwing on some ribs and a few steaks on the BBQ. Hoping to hear back from my team. I've also been scanning around trying to find survivors. Seems this has spread quickly. Was preparing to go out searching myself this morning, was getting ready when we picked up your transmission."
Feeling so relieved to finally hear a response of real life john flicked the VoIP to Speaker. John then headed towards the door to exit the Lab and head towards the freezer. Would have to pull out extra if i got company coming by although i don't mind john thought to himself as he waited for a response.

Re: Roleplaying A Zombie Apocalypse
"I'll have to triangulate your position using your transmission. I'll set anchor a few thousand feet out and approach by raft. I hope your compound is secure enough against the infected dead out there. They move like they're superhuman. I saw some on the shoreline the other day that..."
There had been a small buzzing noise that Kim had first thought was static on the radio. It was growing louder though, and she began to figure out that it wasn't the radio making this noise. Within seconds, the loud buzzing became a roar, and she immediately knew what it was. Looking upwards out the window, she saw it. A Boeing 787 was approaching, and its trajectory, while not on a collision course, was still not good for her.
She made a dash to the wheel and began turning the ship outward towards open sea. The jet was going to crash a lot closer than what she'd ever feel comfortable with, and she was turning the ship to face where the jet would crash. Moments later, the 787 hit the surface of the water with a tremendous noise.
With just seconds to spare, she had the ship facing the 50-foot incoming wave that resulted from the impact. The Isabella shook as it rose along the surface of the water and she could feel the gravity shift as the wave began pushing her dangerously towards the shoreline. Gunning the engines, she pushed the ship as hard as it would go. Moments later, the Isabella rose over the crest and down the other side.
Keeping the engines at full-power, Kim urged the ship back out towards her previous course, and moments later, an explosion rippled the surface of the water where the jet had gone down. This time, the Isabella had momentum, and with some effort, rose over the second wave caused by the explosion.
With a sigh, Kim set the navigational computer to autopilot and let it set a course to the compound, then she sat down to catch her breath.
